>New Make Up Bag + The Essentials

>

Remember the postcard clutch I posted in my first wishlist? I found it!
When I put it on my wishlist I found it at a website that doesn’t ship to the Netherlands. So I forgot about it. But this saturday I was walking through Arnhem city with my boyfriend and went into a little shop called La Don Don, just 500 meters away from our apartment. And there it was! I was so happy and couldn’t believe that all this time it had been waiting for me in this cute little shop near my house!
I was looking for a make-up bag since I didn’t really have one, and this one is perfect! You can also wear it as a clutch (which I initially thought it was) but for me it’s a bit too small to be a clutch. My boyfriend got me a matching mirror so I’m all happy now with my new make up bag!

And here’s what’s in it:

Red lip gloss (Hema), for when I want to spice up my look
A pair of tweezers, can’t go without them
A band for when I get tired of all my hair
Vichy Normaderm day cream
Transparent lip gloss, for a bit of shine
Transparent nail hardener, because my nails always break
Bourjois powder, to give a matte finish to my skin
Bronzing blush (Hema), for a bit of color on my cheeks
Hair slides for when I get tired of my bangs
L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes Mascara: gives me dramatic black eyelashes
without lumps or lashes sticking together
Essence Eyeliner Pen: for a bit more drama
L’Oreal foundation, always works to cover up blemishes
Chance by Chanel Fragrance, I love the sweet smell of this fragrance!
Something to brush my hair with
Dr. Van Der Hoog Chocolate Face Mask, I love it when my face smells like chocolate =)
Chanel Hydra Serum, always works against a dry skin!

>Two army inspired outfits

>

This fall I will be wearing a lot of army again. I still love my army colored parka I bought years ago at H&M, and I love mixing an army colored piece with black and white items. I think it looks very chic and a little more exciting than just a black and white outfit. So I went looking for some inspiration to make army sophisticated and chic. Here’s what I’d wear. Both the shoes are to die for, but unfortunately the Zara ones were sold out in no time, and I can’t afford Sam Edelmans this summer. If anyone knows where I can still get the Zara shoes, please leave a comment!

>Lovely Salads

>

In summertime, I eat a lot of salads. They are light, fresh, and help you fit into that amazing summer bikini. There are about thousands of food combinations to make salads with, but you do have to have a little bit of inspiration when standing in the supermarket. And of course, some salads take a lot of time and effort to make, while some salads are very easy. I like to make simple, easy salads on days when it’s just too hot to make too much of an effort. Here are some ideas for days when you don’t have a lot of time, but do want to eat something good, healthy and delicious of course.
Rocket salad with peach and feta cheese

There’s really no recipe to this, just take some rocket, a peach, and some feta cheese, mix it, and dress with a bit of vinaigrette or just olive oil and salt and pepper. Sprinkling the juice of half a lemon on top is very tasty too. It’s such a good combination. You can add some cucumber or green beans if you want more vegetables, but I like the simplicity of this salad. The peach makes it really fresh.

Smoked chicken and garden pea salad
This salad is so healthy, but so delicious. Cook some garden peas for about 5 minutes. Mix the peas with some spinach leaves, slices of smoked chicken and a bit of basil. The recipe I found tells you to crumble some blue cheese on top, but since I’m not a big fan of blue cheese, I don’t. Dress your salad with a simple vinaigrette with mustard. Ceasar dressing works too.
Roasted pumpkin salad
I love eating pumpkin, but a lot of people only eat it during fall and winter. However, this salad is very light and a good way to eat healthy pumpkin in summer!
Sprinkle some olive oil, thyme and salt an pepper over the sliced pumpkin, and roast it in the oven at about 200 degrees. Toast some almonds in a dry pan. Mix some rocket, the roasted pumpkin and the almond and sprinkle olive oil and balsamic vinegar on top. As simple as that!
Really Simple Salad.
This is a very basic salad, but I just absolutely love it, also as a side dish. Shave cucumber into slices, mix with spinach or salad leaves. Make your own croutons by cutting your old bread into slices and sprinkling it with garlic olive oil (garlic butter is nice too), and put it into the oven or fry in a pan until golden brown. Add a boiled egg, or a poached egg if you’re in a fancy mood, and dress with a mustard vinaigrette or just olive oil and vinegar. Don’t forget the pepper and salt.
Easy but so simple! Have it for lunch!
Avocado Caprese with Chilli
It doesn’t get any simpler than this. Who doesn’t love a good caprese salad? Add a little spice to it by making it with avocado and chilli. Slice tomatoes, mozzarella (please use buffalo mozzarella, it’s sooo much better and cheap versions of mozzarella taste like plastic) and an avocado. Sprinkle with shredded basil leaves, olive oil, salt and pepper and chilli to taste. So fresh!
Green bean, bacon and herb salad
This salad is very healthy and fills you up for a while, so good when you’re planning to party all night! Fry the bacon until crispy. Cook the green beans for as long as the package tells you to. Mix the beans and the bacon with quite a few leaves of basil, mint and coriander. Make a dressing out of lime juice (from 2 small limes) and 3 tablespoons of honey, and salt and pepper. So many flavors in your mouth!

>Dream Destination: North Island, Seychelles

>

If I could go anywhere right now, it would probably be the Seychelles. It’s definitely high on my lists of ‘places to go’. With all the rain and cold in the Netherlands it feels like we just skipped summer and moved on to autumn. Kind of depressing. So I thinking a lot of us are in need for a getaway with a lot of sunshine. I found the perfect resort to have a dream holiday. North Island Villas & Spa is very luxurious, but also has great design. And well, I don’t think I need to say anything about the location.. See for yourself..

>Keep in 2012: Tribal Prints

>

Tribal prints were already trending this summer, but next to a trend, clothing and accessories with tribal prints also also seem like a good investment for the future! The Fall 2011 collections have already shown we can keep our tribal printed clothes and accessories, and even the Resort 2012 collections still have a fling with Africa!

Givenchy and Missoni Resort 2012

Lanvin Resort 2012
Here are some items with a tribal print that I love and are in stores now! I’ll definitely be on the lookout to shop this trend, since love the trend and will be able to wear it for a long time! I would myself combine a tribal item with some simple items because I’m not a big fan of print-overkill. But wear it like you want it, as you can see even Lanvin doesn’t mind mixing prints!

>Interior Idea: Mismatched Frames

>

Staring at your boring white wall? Could your room use a little ‘spice’? In need for some ideas to decorate your wall?
I love the idea of hanging up mismatched frames. It makes a wall look really interesting! Fill the frames with pictures of the people you love or pictures that inspire you.

>What time is it?

>

I like wearing watches. But I don’t use them for checking what time it is. I have a few pretty watches, but whenever someone asks me what time it is, I look on my iPhone. I don’t know why, I just do, it’s a habit. But it doesn’t really matter, in my opinion watches should be a beautiful accessory on your arm, whether you can check the time on it or not. Here are a few pretty watches in store at the moment. I wish I could have them all..
