It’s here, the last day of 2012. Just in time for some resolutions! Of course I have my personal resolutions as well (such as work out more) but I wanted to share my style resolutions with you guys here. I had style resolutions last year (find them here) and fulfilled almost every one of them! They actually helped me since I did have my resolutions in the back of my mind and stuck to them and it turned out pretty well: I wore more heels, more color, more skirts and found the perfect black bag. But this year I have a few new ones that I actually can’t wait to stick to or fulfill!

Wear more prints. My wardrobe was always quite black/grey/white but I added quite a few touches of colors to it last year and a few prints as well, but prints are definitely the way to go in 2013 so one of my resolutions is to wear a lot of prints! So far I have just a few pieces in my closet but looking at for instance the Kenzo SS13 collection (1,3,5) and Proenza Schouler SS13 (2,4) I instantly want to go looking for bright leopard prints and photo prints. They will bring so much more fun into my wardrobe!

Go for quality, less quantity. Something that is quite obvious but that I find really hard to stick to. It’s not easy trying to save up money for a few good pieces when Zara and H&M Trend and ASOS come with such good and on trend stuff every week (!). Looking at the pieces I wore most last year though (see them here) I really plan on trying harder, because the pieces I wore most are the ones I invested in, went with everything in my closet and had something about them that didn’t make them linked to a certain season or trend. I’m wondering how I’ll do on this one, it will be quite hard but we’ll see.. If Zara could just stop having such good collections..

In line with the previous resolution, this year I want to invest in another great every day bag. I did that last year and got my Wang and I’m quite surprised it still looks as good as it does because I use it about every day. It was definitely worth getting it and I still love it but after months of the same bags (I momentarily only have 2 I like) I’m ready for some variation. My bank account is not ready yet though so this one might take a little while to live up to, but I do think it’s a resolution because it will be so worth the investment.. I love all of the above!

Ok the last one is not really style related but it’s definitely a high on my list. Go to New York! I really want to go to NYC again in 2013. I’ve been there 3 times now and I can’t get enough of that city. I’m not sure if I can make it happen, but I’m definitely going to try. But looking at the 4 resolutions above maybe I should get a job next to the blog first haha..

2012.. It was such a great year for me, I’m really hoping 2013 will be as least as good! Here’s what I wore (or at least, part of it) in 2012. So funny to see how my style went through phases: from sneakers to boyish to prints to skirts.. I’m curious of what I’ll wear in 2013 haha.
I also want to thank all of you for reading my blog, your super sweet responses that bring a smile to my face every day and just all the support, likes, tweets, comments, pins, hypes, shares, and so on. You guys are the best and without you blogging wouldn’t even be half the fun. THANKS and I wish you all the best for 2013.. But this is not my last blogpost for this year though, I always have something to share ;) Happy Sunday!

(By the way, I know it’s a bit of an impossible question but if you have an absolute #1 favorite out of all these outfits, please tell me! I’m always interested in hearing what you guys like best!)

Last diary of the year! Can’t believe it’s almost 2013 already.. There were a few last things from this year that I wanted to share with you guys so here’s what you’re looking at:
- An unpublished picture of me and my photographer having fun while shooting (outfit post here), and a pic from today wearing my latest sale score: a gorgeous cream/white leather jacket.
-  Wearing bright pink mohair, also a sale score (at H&M Trend) and the shoes I wore the 2nd day of Christmas. I should really wear these shoes more often because they’re gorgeous but 13cm of heel makes me unable to wear them more than half a day.. Too bad!
- How cute is my Christmas tree? It’s really over the top glitter with stars and glitter reindeer and butterflies in it. I hope you guys all had a great Christmas, I sure did!
- Memories from London: super cute Carnaby street and after trying on these Acne boots at Liberty I really can’t get them out of my head anymore..
- New very pretty iPhone case from Iconemesis and one of my highlights from the last few months: walking the ASOS Catwalk when visiting their HQ.
- Got myself a tee that matches my personality XD and looove my hairy leopard loafers from Zara!

Sorry for the radio silence guys! There’s some personal stuff going on that got me distracted a little. I’m not really on top of my game at the moment but I’ll try to keep up though! This is me on the second day of Christmas, I went for really simple. Blazer from Maison Martin Margiela for H&M, jeans from Zara, pumps from Zara and scarf from Weekday. By the way, would anyone like to see an overview of my 2012 looks? Let me know!

A little evening inspiration. Sorry for the late blogpost but I’m having a super lazy day in my PJ’s today and I love it! Even a blogger needs a day off every once in a while ;) I still wanted to share this with you though: Taylor Tomasi Hill is always such an inspiration and wears the perfect mix between eye-catching fashion and casual. Her looks are super fashion forward but still look so wearable and that’s often what inspires me most in peoples styles. I love these 3 looks where she’s wearing grey but in a way you’d hardly think of ‘grey’ because they look so interesting. Also: 3 ways to wear a skirt 2.0 . Love the wrap skirt with the big sweater and sneakers, such a cool casual look.

Not only is it the 2nd day of Christmas (which we celebrate in the Netherlands so again, Merry Christmas everyone, enjoy it while it lasts!) but it’s also the end of the year. A year in which a lot happened and changed for me, and a year in which I did a lot of shopping ;) I thought it would be fun to show you my best buys of 2012. Insightful as well maybe, because it’s good to review your buys from time to time and see which ones became your favorites and why. Could prevent you from bad buys and make you realize what kind of pieces are good to invest in. It was quite hard to limit this list to 14 pieces but I really do think these are the pieces that were the best buys from this year, the ones I wore most, the ones I will still wear next year and were totally worth investing in (or not, who knew a 6€ ring could make the cut!). Above is what be my most worn item of 2012: my Isabel Marant sneakers in beige. I wore them every season, even in summer, and they’re just so comfy and good and after wearing them so much, they still look good. Definitely worth the investment.

Next (but not in hierarchical order) is this black coat from Stylein. Just the perfect simple black (summer) coat, perfect length, perfect fabric and it’s kind of chic which goes quite well with my more sporty looks. Really happy I found this one! Unfortunately it’s not available anymore..

You’ve seen these around quite a few times: grey New Balance 420 sneakers that I wore with everything and brought me everywhere the second half of the year after I got one. Again, a sneaker but I guess you could have expected that :) Anyway, a good sneaker that matches with anything is always a good buy!

These leopard trousers from Zara are my favorite summer trousers, I wore them so often! Super comfy and light and in a cool leopard print: just the right leopard trousers. Can’t wait to wear them again next summer.

This is probably not much of a surprise either: my Alexander Wang prisma tote. It was actually one of my fashion resolutions last year to find the perfect black leather bag and I’m really happy I did – and on sale! It’s been my everyday bag ever since I got it and it hardly ever leaves my side. However I’m keeping an eye open for a second designer bag for a bit of variation but for now, this one does the job pretty well.

Sweats were a big part of 2012. From sweatpants in different variations to a lot of grey and bright sweaters: I wore a lot of sweats. I tried to combine them with something different every time though. The best sweat from 2012 (though picking it wasn’t easy) is this bat sweater from Zoe Karssen. The bat just makes it so cool, need I say more?

Another investment piece I wore a crazy lot in 2012: these black leather trousers from Humanoid. They’re an investment piece by themselves but luckily I didn’t even have to make the investment: I found them at a stock sale for €70 when they used to be €760. Not bad huh? It turned out to be a hell of a lucky find because these are for me the perfect leather trousers. Tight, quite long, and obviously leather trousers can be worn with almost everything. Definitely a lucky find.

These leopard sandals from Zara sold out super fast but I was happy to have gotten my hands on them because I wore them all summer. When it’s super hot you want to wear as little shoe as possible but not walk around on flipflops all the time so these were the perfect solution. Love the leopard!

The least expensive that made it to the cut: this kitty ring from Monki. Except from watches I always buy affordable jewelry so that I can get more and have lots of options to choose from, and this ring (for just €6) is absolutely the cutest thing. It’s been around my fingers a lot even though I got it only a month ago but I just have such a weak spot for kitties!

It took me a while, but I finally found the perfect black heeled ankle boots. The big chunky heel, slightly pointed toe and buckles were just what I was looking for. Great underneath trousers, skirts or even dresses: I’ve worn and will be wearing them so much!

A big thing we’ve looked forward to this year was Maison Martin Margiela for H&M. I got my hands on this huge cashmere jumper and it proved to be a super good buy. You’ve seen it on the blog only once so far but I wear it at home all the time because it’s so comfy and oversized and what is better in winter than to cuddle up in a big sea of cashmere?

Another bag: this one from Zara is the one I wear when I don’t wear my Wang. It’s great for days on which I don’t need to bring that much and a great party bag as well. A chain strap is always good and I love the cool design on this one. Definitely my #2 bag and a great buy!

Another search that’s over: finding a perfect black leather motorcycle jacket. Again, Zara, you’ve done well this year. After getting this one I got rid of all my faux leather jackets that just weren’t what I was looking for and wore this one all the time. Investing in the perfect leather biker jacket is always a good idea, it never goes out of fashion and can be thrown over whatever you want.

Last but definitely not least: these Acne boots I got a few weeks ago. Again, black leather ankle boots that go with anything and I just love the textured suede and cool design. They’re super comfy as well and I’m sure they will prove to be a great buy in 2013 as well.

So that was my list of best buys of 2012. As you can see: a lot of black, a lot of leather and a lot of shoes. No need to explain I like black for everyday basics and whatever style you have: everybody needs a pair of leather trousers, a good black bag, a pair of black leather ankle boots and the perfect black coat. Also: shoes can really make your outfit so I my investment pieces tend to be mostly shoes. Now I’m curious though, what’s your best buy of 2012?

Merry Christmas! Here’s what I was wearing yesterday during Christmas Eve. Nothing sparkly or super chic, just a perfect outfit for cooking and watching Christmas movies with my love. I cooked a Christmas meal that turned out pretty well except for making the fire alarm turn on within 15 minutes but that was actually pretty funny. So back to my outfit: I like how the skirt is quite chic and the sweater makes everything more casual and fun. Just my cup of tea. Zara just keeps doing so well lately! Not much variation in scenery though lately but I live in the middle of a city centre and it turns out it’s quite hard to find a quiet place to take some pictures in all the Christmas chaos. Luckily pre-Christmas stress is over now and it’s time for enjoying these few days with my loved ones and lots of food. I probably won’t wear anything too fancy today either since I’m off to my mum and dad’s to eat and catch up with my family. I love it! I hope you’re all enjoying the holidays as well, Merry Christmas!
