The maxi dress – I never thought I’d wear one, ever. I really like them on other people, but I always found them either too girly or too boho for my style. Until I got this one, a super soft knitted (very important for me) slightly ribbed grey one. It’s slouchy, it’s grey and a absolutely love it. I prefer wearing it with a top so that it looks more like a skirt, but I’d wear it as a dress as well. Shows how important fabric and color can be, it completely changes my look on maxi dresses. It might not be a coincidence either that it’s from one of my favorite Scandinavian brands. I styled it quite slouchy and casual with chucks and a simple knit – I love to wear looks like this. I actually wouldn’t mind wearing this every day. Ok maybe not, because there’s too much other good stuff in my closet, but you know what I mean. So there you go, Lucy in a maxi dress. I’m very curious of how you feel about it, both this look and the maxi dress in general.

Have a super busy day today because I’m preparing to go to Fashion Week in Berlin next week, so excited! Happy Sunday!

This week’s damage

zara lace up heels boots leopard vans

Oooops, I got 3 pairs of new shoes this week! But one of them was on sale, so those don’t really count right?
I’m really happy with all 3 of them. I got the boots on sale for almost nothing, and they are the perfect boots for festival season (also, I had no ‘it doesn’t matter if these get dirty’-shoes). The lace-up heels are too good to be true, such a sexy shoe and they actually walk great (which I didn’t expect). And then there’s leopard Vans. You know, because I really needed another pair of sneakers (ok maybe not) and I did actually need some good leopard footwear. Shoes make me happy, I’m superficial, whatever. But also: life is short, get the shoes. Right?

Boots and heels from Zara, leopard sneakers from Vans (available here).

Pushing Limits

Breaking boundaries and pushing limits can be so refreshing sometimes. I’m breaking the boundaries of my wardrobe with this blazer. First of all, I never wear blazers. Second of all, that crazy cool print might not appeal to anyone and I hardly have any prints this bold in my wardrobe, but it proved to be a real good buy since I’ve been wearing it almost every day since I got it. I hate words like eyecatcher, but this is one hell of it. Pushling my limits part 2: I AM WEARING HEELS! It’s been a while (actually feels like it’s been forever) and even though I only wore them half of the day (my feet are so not used to heels anymore, not that I was ever a sky high heel talent) I was happy to get these strappy sandals out for the first time since I got them. It is pushing my (body-)limits a little, but it’s nice to be a rebel every now and then. Today is definitely a day for flats though, I’m sooooo tired! Have a really exciting event tonight though, keep an eye on my instagram to find out more! Happy Thursday!

Resort 2014

resort 2014 favs 1resort 2014 fashion trends favsresort 2013 dropped waist peplum trend

Seasons, seasons. It can be quite confusing. Summer hasn’t properly started yet (I don’t call those few good days we had summer), but summer collections are on sale right now and pre-fall is dropping in online and in stores. My mind is already in pre-fall, but at the same time resort collections are out in the open already and the professionals are getting ready to see spring/summer 2014. Where are we at?
Well, let’s say I’m most interested in what’s to come for Pre-Fall and Fall at the moment since those are my favorite seasons, I’m slowly giving up on summer and I’m really excited about the fall trends to come (I’ll do a post about it later). But of course I want to see what Resort collections are like and do some early trendspotting. These are my favorite looks. I’m spotting some really cool tailoring, oversized is still a great look, pinstripes are a winner (love that white pinstripe suit from Thakoon) and what I’m most excited about seeing are all those comfy but cool flats. Also: I have a bit of an aversion to peplum but I’m really digging this dropped waist, more slouchy peplum in the last two looks! Oh and can I pre-order those 2tone trousers from Chloé, please?

Which season is your head at?

The NSLBD

lovelybylucy white coat black dresslovelybylucy basic black t-shirt dress

How many times have you heard the sentence ‘Everybody should own a little black dress’. I might have heard it one or two times too many, but then again, there is a truth in it. I do not own a little black dress. First of all, I don’t really like to wear ‘little’ dresses, and second of all, I just haven’t found a little black dress yet that I like. I honestly think that there might not be one that is perfect for me (of course there’s those perfect little designer dresses that I first of all can’t afford and second of all will probably only wear once). I found something else though: the NSLBD – Not So Little Black Dress. It’s actually more of a really big shirt than a dress, but I still found it in the dress section. I love it, such a good basic piece indeed and styled slouchy here but also very suitable to style in a sporty or grungy way (my 3 favorite looks right now). Maybe the LBD isn’t for everyone, maybe some of us are just more NSLBD girls. I surely am at the moment, but who knows what I might run into in the future. I’m quite curious though as to how many of my readers own an LBD (or NSLBD). Do you?

Oversized shirt dress from ASOS, it’s this one but I really like this one and this one as well / Coat and open boots from Zara

Monday is for movies

Monday is for movies. Or at least, dreary, rainy Mondays like these where June is fooling us into thinking it’s fall are. Also, aftermaths of health problems aren’t making things easier, so I’m deciding to ignore the world and watch movies in my PJ’s all day. 1-0 for me, weather gods. Ok so maybe not ignoring the world completely because not updating the blog feels like not feeding my child (except on Saturday which has become TFBNB-day (time for boyfriend not blog-day). Since I’m so excited over sharing video’s on instagram I decided to share my first outfit in video here. How do we feel about more video’s on LovelyByLucy.com? Do share! Be the first to view my instavids by following my instagram here (or search for @lovelybylucy) No new video’s today though, only on my laptop screen. Sorryyy!

Wearing good old chucks, Tiger of Sweden trousers, Zara leather jacket, Fashionology jewelry and Givenchy obsedia bag in the video above.
