Shop My Closet on Saturday!

Time for some spring cleaning!

There’s always too much in my closet that deserves a better home rather than just hanging there because I have so many clothes, so I thought it was time for some spring cleaning and give you guys the chance to shop my closet – from designer to high street – Saturday at Bar Italia in Amsterdam at the NSMBL sale. Prices start from just €1, there will be more bloggers and the girls from NSMBL selling their stuff, you can meet me (do say hi!) and it will just be a lot of fun!

Click here to see and join the Facebook event, don’t miss out!

Can’t believe my Vienna trip was already a week ago! Last week was my first time ever in Vienna and I fell in love with the beautiful city. It was a very inspiring trip with Just Away, a new online travel platform that launched in the Netherlands last week offering inspiring trips and holidays. But let me tell you more about them later, because I really want to show you more of Vienna and all I’ve seen and done..

On day 1 I arrived in Vienna and went to see the famous Spanish riding school and had a workshop at Swarovski. Did you know Swarovski is originally Austrian? I didn’t!
After that we went to the main shopping area (the Golden Quarter) and took a horse carriage ride, as pictured above with Kim from NSMBL. It was quite easy to get around in Vienna by foot actually, although the city has a lot of grandeur, it’s less big than I expected which is a good thing, I love to be able to explore cities by foot.

At night we had an amazing dinner in a restaurant that used to be a metro station, called Albertina Passage, and cocktails at the Palmenhaus which was a gorgeous location in the Hofburg Palace gardens that used to be a greenhouse part of the old palace. Definitely a place you can’t miss when in Vienna!

Day 2 was a gorgeous sunny day that started with a bike tour along the Ringstrasse where you’ll find many gorgeous historic buildings and along the Donau river. A good way to spend the morning and Vienna is a great city to cycle through as well! I wore comfy travel gear because my days in Vienna were packed with activities and black never fails. Nor do leather jackets.

I also had a taste of the Austrian cuisine. Which is not my favorite in the world (too many brown and beige food) but when you find a good place to eat (such as Corbaci), a cooked ball of dough called knödel is actually quite delicious!

There’s many gorgeous historical architecture in Vienna, pretty much everywhere you go, but we also got to see the University of Business & Economics which was an amazing piece of modern architectural work. It almost (yeah, almost) made me want to go back to school, I wish my university had looked like this!

There was not much time for shopping on this trip, which I for a change didn’t mind that much because I really wanted to see Vienna and the special places Just Away showed me, not just the shopping streets. We did get to do some shopping in the 7th district though (also known as Bobo) which was a really nice area with small streets and shops where I could have walked around for hours. I also discovered my favorite store in Vienna there, called Park. A huge store carrying brands such as Acne, Haider Ackermann and Maison Martin Margiela. Couldn’t resist to get myself a souvenir, although I’m not sure a Margiela scent really counts as a souvenir ;) Another plus: Vienna has a Wood Wood store!

On the second night we had dinner alongside the Donau and after that we went to the spectacular Le Loft bar at the Sofitel hotel (pictured above). The cocktails were amazing, the view was breathtaking and they have a gorgeous colored ceiling that made this bar one of the most spectacular ones I’ve ever been. Again, a must-see!

Day 3 consisted of a visit to the famous Naschmarkt, a huge food market where we went to get ingredients for a traditional Viennese lunch. The market is open all week except on Sundays but on Saturday there was a flea market as well. I can spend hours on flea and food markets, but there was lunch that had to be made. With a chef, we prepared a soup, the original Wiener Schnitzel (which was better than I thought) and a yummy dessert. That part of the day might have been my favorite of the week, the cooking studio and preparing local food is such a great idea when visiting a city! Especially for me because I love to cook and who doesn’t love food?

25 hours hotel wenenDSC_354425 hours hotel lobby

Last but not least I just have to show you the hotel. My image of Vienna was an image of a traditional, historical city. Which it absolutely is, but there’s a lot of modern architecture, stores, restaurants and hotels as well. I spent my Vienna nights at the 25 Hours Hotel which is a super fun, kind of bizarre and surreal place to stay. It gave me a bit of an Alice in Wonderland feel with a fun touch (like the rug of the elevator saying ‘claustrophobic therapy centre’. Check out their website and more pictures here.

Soon there will be a bookable citytrip available on Just Away with this hotel or with the cooking workshop, which were my 2 favorites of this trip. But do have another look at Just Away every now and then (and check out their inspirator!)  because they offer thematic and inspiring trips and packages that change every now and then and there’s really something for everybody.

Happy Weekend!

30 Hours in Stockholm with Weekday

Back from Stockholm! Even though it was a short trip, I had the most amazing time which was my first time in Stockholm. I’m already hooked to the city and hope to be back very soon! For now, here’s a visual diary of what I did, saw and obsessed over..

After arriving in Stockholm we (which is Jan en Martijn from schoon den boer PR, an editor from Dutch Vogue and an editor from Dutch Glamour) went straight to the Weekday Headquarters where we got a sneak peek of the gorgeous new AW14 collection from Weekday and Weekday Collection. Great prints and amazing coats, I actually wanted to wear all the men’s coats they showed and am definitely planning on visiting the men’s department more often at Weekday. Also: a very exclusive preview of a book which I can’t tell you much about yet, but definitely will later!

DSC_7682DSC_7685DSC_7697weekday white boyfriend denimDSC_7715stk2

The trip was actually all about denim, the next morning we had a presentation with Weekday’s jeans designer Johan Langer-Tegman who told us all about the 7 days jeans collection. At the Weekday store we had breakfast with Swedish press and bloggers and learnt all about the Monday, Tuesday, etc. jeans (hence MTWTFSS Weekday) and saw the collection that is in stores now and some of it in stores soon. I loooved the white ensemble above and definitely hope to get my hands on those white boyfriend jeans (should be in store about now or next week) and a black denim wrap skirt in the 5th picture. And since I’ve been looking for new boyfriend denim, I got the Friday men’s jeans that are a perfect, slightly stretchy boyfriend jeans that comes in about 20 different washes (!). I was definitely impressed by the MTWTFSS Weekday jeans collection with the many different styles and washes, there’s great basics but they are really on trend as well with for instance printed denim and boxy denim jackets for this spring. There’s an exciting jeans promotion coming up in March as well, I’ll definitely keep you updated.

And then of course, it was Stockholm, so some shopping had to be done as well. And we stayed in the most amazing Nobis hotel. A huge thanks to Weekday and schoon den boer PR for an amazing Stockholm trip and a new obsession with MTWTFSS Weekday denim. Check it out online here. Happy Weekend!

This was CPHFW

Gallery cphfw

So I’m back for 2 days already but it took me a little while to do a CPHFW recap since I’ve done and seen so much and had so many pictures.. I decided to do a small diary showing my favorite moments of the week! Below the pictures are descriptions of what it is. And there’s me wearing the same coat in each picture, first of all because I’m obsessed with this coat (from Selected bought on ASOS, available here and here) and second of all because it’s the only warm coat I brought. Enjoy!

The first picture is from the Anne Sofie Madsen show which was a mix of biker couture and avantgarde punk, with lots of leather, (faux?) fur and biker boots. Such an interesting collection with many pieces I w0uld totally wear! Second and third picture are from the Samsøe & Samsøe AW14 collection which I had a look at while visiting the Gallery fair. As always, an amazing collection of which I’d wear almost anything and I’m obsessed with that grey coat!

Gorgeous details from the Ganni AW14 collection. They had the presentation in a really cool museum and once again, I was obsessing over coats.

Visiting the Baum und Pferdgarten showroom after visiting the show. I was really stunned by the collection that involved a lot of pattern play, interesting fabrics and a great color scheme. You may call this textured green coat my new obsession.

My favorite look from the Wood Wood AW14 show.

cphfw shopping

Of course there had to be some shopping involved in the trip as well! I had a small heart attack when trying on the most amazing leather jacket at Acne Studios, and brought this super cool leo and zebra sweater home with me from And Other Stories. Can’t wait until we get our own And Other Stories in Amsterdam!

copenhagen andersen hotel

I stayed with Debbie and Joyce in a great hotel called the Andersen Hotel. It was really central located in Vesterbro which is a really cool area, and the hotel and rooms looked really cool and modern, just as I like it. The service was amazing, as well as the breakfast (although I still don’t understand how people can eat herring for breakfast, seriously?) and we had a really nice stay thanks to the Andersen Hotel and Bloggernet. Can’t wait for next seasons CPHFW!

Short but Sweet

DSC_0930DSC_1120the exchange scary roomDSC_1112IMG_8152IMG_8266IMG_8249uber afw

My Amsterdam Fashion Week was short but sweet. Definitely short, since I only did 2 days. Somehow I was exhausted over the weekend so I decided to take some well-needed rest, and I just had 2 great days of AFW so I could live with it. My highlights of my short AFW experience? Obviously the Collectie Arnhem show (read the post about it here). but also a great hotel, getting my hair done and traveling in luxury.
The first 4 pictures are from the hotel I stayed at: Hotel The Exchange. It’s a really cool design hotel with rooms ranging from 1 to 5 stars, and every room is designed by a different student from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute. Every room is different and my room, The Room of Misunderstood Creatures had really cool furniture and a bit of a dark side to it, contrasted by the sequins on the wall and in the floor. I love staying in interesting places and this hotel certainly is a really creative and cool place to stay at. I wish I could have seen all of the 61 rooms!

The second 3 pictures are from getting my hair done at Toni & Guy who did a great job at making me pretty on Thursday! Pictures were made by Bad Manor.
And the last two instasnaps are from another big highlight: taking taxiservice Uber to literally every place I needed to be that day. Boy, I don’t know if I can (at least I don’t want to) travel by tram anymore. The super luxurious cars Uber uses and the easy service via the app was great, I felt a bit like a celebrity!

So that was my short but sweet Amsterdam Fashion Week. Thanks Bloggernet for making these an awesome 2 days!
Right now: packing for Copenhagen Fashion Week. Absolutely can’t wait!

AFW Favorites: Collectie Arnhem

DSC_1014DSC_0960DSC_0989IMG_6644DSC_1007DSC_1035collectie arnhem 2014DSC_1094

We’re right in the middle of Amsterdam Fashion Week but I think I might have already seen my favorite show. On Thursday I attended the show of Collectie Arnhem, the label of the 3rd year’s students from Artez, Institute of the Arts. I loved the long, sleek silhouettes and playing with volumes. The color scheme was really good as well especially the nudes and greys, and my favorite pieces were some of the coats shown above that I wouldn’t mind wearing at all. A definite special touch for me was that after the shows, the models stayed on the runway and the viewers could take a closer look at and touch the pieces. Had to hold myself back from stealing that grey oversized bomber jacket in the last picture off the model, luckily there were too many people watching. Dear Collectie Arnhem, if one of you talented students ever decide to take one of the coats into production, call me.

I’ll share more on Amsterdam Fashion Week later although I’m afraid I won’t see as much of it as I would like since I haven’t been feeling that great this week and I really don’t want to get sick right before Copenhagen.. Just my luck!

A few snaps from the 7 for all Mankind event me and Linda hosted yesterday. Thanks for everybody who came, it was so much fun! I was wearing 7 for all Mankind top and jeans, I really like the subtle print on print. It’s a quicky for today because I’m exhausted today and have lots of work to do, just another Friday I guess :) Happy Weekend!
